Store Surveying

This process of defining each store’s merchandisable and non-merchandisable space and fixture inventory, down to the last base plate, shelf and spine is accomplished according to the retailer’s resource requirements.  Floor plan creation is usually initiated at the store or district level, using either hard copy which is then input into the Retail FOCUS database at head office using the embedded AutoCAD® capability or by allowing the stores or districts to complete the process by using eDesigner which captures floor plan details and automatically feeds data to the Retail FOCUS database. This option also allows for store initiated updates using eMaintenance.

Key Benefits:

  • Better decision making.  Merchandising initiatives and automated maintenance of those plans are based on current, detailed specifications.
  • Enterprise-wide collaboration.  Merchandising, floor planning, construction, operations and inventory management are all working from the same current, detailed floor plans.
  • Lasting investment.  By using Retail FOCUS to create current floor plans, promotions and re-fits are more easily incorporated to continuously keep plans up to date and applicable to all levels of the organization.
  • More timely updates.  Enabling stores or districts to update floor plans ensures that those who are closest to changes have the power to communicate them to head office and other parts of the organization using the plans as decision making tools.
